He rubbed his eyes in astonishment and once again looked carefully around him. There was chaos everywhere. People were running in all directions, screaming and shouting. Some had fallen to the ground and were crying out for help in their injured state, but no one was coming to their aid. It seemed as if everyone was only concerned about saving themselves.
Could this be the day of Judgment that Baba had told him about?
He had no idea what was happening.
He slowly began walking forward, carefully looking around. It seemed as though the people were running away from something terrifying. After walking a little farther, he noticed a middle-aged man sitting in front of a building.
At a time when everyone else was screaming, shouting, and running for their lives, the man was sitting there calmly. He looked completely hopeless.
Ali quickened his steps and walked toward him.
“Uncle...!”
Ali called out as he approached the man, trying to get his attention.
“Would you please tell me what is going on? What are these people afraid of? And why are they running?”
The man looked at Ali with a hopeless expression and gave him a faint smile.
“Son! They are trying to escape from the King Dinosaur. But now, escaping from it is impossible.”
Hearing this, Ali felt like bursting into laughter.
“King Dinosaur...? Uncle, maybe you're joking. Dinosaurs became extinct a very long time ago. Perhaps you've misunderstood something.”
The man smiled faintly at Ali's words.
“Son, you're right. Dinosaurs became extinct a long time ago. But I am not talking about a real dinosaur. I am talking about a robot.”
“A robot...?”
“Yes. King Dinosaur is a dangerous robot that can speak in human language. It was built using advanced technology that allows it to shoot fireballs from its mouth.”
“A robot... that can speak like a human... and shoot fireballs...?” Ali's head began spinning. “Uncle, what are you talking about? I don't understand any of this!”
“Son, you know that dinosaurs have always fascinated humans. That's why our company decided to use technology to create a dinosaur-like robot that could speak in human language. With the help of machine learning, we were able to make it possible.
“To make it look more realistic, we also created an illusion that made it appear as though the dinosaur could shoot fireballs from its mouth.
“But before we could officially launch it, the robot was stolen. Our rival company had it stolen from us. They made it dangerous.
“Now it is self-learning. And the fireballs it is shooting can burn anyone caught in their path to ashes.
“They also programmed it to believe that humans are bad. So now, it considers humans its worst enemy.”
Ali understood only half of what the man was saying, and the rest went over his head. But there was no time to think about it.
“Is there no way to stop it?” Ali asked anxiously.
The man fell silent for a moment, thinking.
“The building you see over there belongs to our rival company. If you can access their main server and disable the robot's AI module, it can be stopped.
“The main server room is on the fifth floor. You need to find the terminal labeled ‘AI Control’ and execute the shutdown command using the override code 58729.”
Ali looked carefully at the building the man had pointed toward.
The building was also on fire.
There was chaos everywhere. People were running in every direction, desperately trying to save their lives. Fortunately, the fire had not spread too far yet.
Without wasting another second, Ali ran toward the building.
He rushed up the stairs and reached the fifth floor. Then he made his way toward the room where the control system was located.
Following the man's instructions, Ali managed to shut down the robot's operating system within a few minutes.
He shouted with joy and then collapsed onto the floor.
He felt incredibly proud of himself. He had accomplished something so great!
He peacefully closed his eyes.
But in the very next moment, his peace was shattered.
Where were Mama and Baba?
What if something had happened to them...?
“No...!”
He immediately jumped to his feet.
As soon as he stood up, his eyes fell upon the family picture hanging in front of him.
It took him a few moments to understand what had happened.
He smiled.
He had been dreaming.
Ali quickly got out of bed and ran out of the room.
He rushed into the lounge and jumped straight into Baba's lap, where Baba was sitting on the sofa.
Baba lovingly ran his hand through Ali's hair.
After a little while, Ali excitedly began telling Baba about his dream.
When he finished, Baba smiled.
“So, my son has become a superhero!” Baba said affectionately, smiling as he patted Ali.
“Baba! Is it possible to make a dinosaur that can talk and shoot fireballs from its mouth?” Ali asked.
“My dear son, perhaps not a real dinosaur, but it is possible to build a robot that looks like a dinosaur. And as far as speaking is concerned, that is already possible. Many machines can now communicate with humans in ways that sound very natural. This has become possible because of machine learning and AI.”
“Machine learning...? AI...? What are those things, Baba?”
“Son, AI is like a brain that can think and learn, just like you!”
“Now let's talk about machine learning. Think of it as giving AI a special pair of glasses that helps it learn things.
“For example, if you show an AI many pictures of different animals, it can learn to recognize them. So, when you later show it a picture of a cat or a dog, the AI can tell you which animal it is because it has learned from all the animal pictures you showed it before.
“In simple words, AI is like the brain of a smart robot, while machine learning helps it learn new things, such as recognizing animals or playing games, by learning from examples.”
“Baba! Can a robot become bad on its own?” Ali asked another question.
“Son, robots don't have feelings or intentions like humans do, so they cannot be good or bad on their own. However, if they are programmed incorrectly or given harmful instructions, they can perform actions that hurt people.”
“Baba! The uncle in my dream used the words ‘self-learning.’ What does that mean?” Ali asked another question.
“Son, self-learning is a very interesting concept in machine learning!
“Imagine you have an intelligent robot that loves to play and wants to learn new things without someone constantly guiding it.
“In self-learning, a robot is given the ability to learn something on its own.
“For example, imagine teaching a robot to catch a ball. At first, you show it how to catch the ball. But later, you let it practice on its own.
“Every time it misses the ball, it learns a little and tries a different way to catch it. Eventually, it becomes very good at catching the ball by itself!
“So, in machine learning, self-learning means giving a smart robot the ability to figure things out and improve on its own. It is a little like the way you become better at playing games by practicing, trying different strategies, and learning from your mistakes.”
Baba explained everything patiently.
“Baba! Can robots do bad things through self-learning?”
“A self-learning robot can perform harmful actions, but not in the way you might imagine.
“Robots don't have intentions or emotions like humans do. However, if a robot is poorly programmed or learns from harmful examples, it may perform actions that we consider ‘bad’ or dangerous.
“For example, suppose a robot is designed to learn how to play a game. If it is given the wrong rules during its learning process, or if it is encouraged to cheat, it may learn to cheat without understanding that what it is doing is wrong.
“A robot's behavior depends on how it is programmed and what kind of data it learns from.
“That is why good programming and ethical guidelines are very important. They help make sure that robots do not unintentionally perform harmful actions while learning on their own.”
Before Ali could ask another question, Mama called out from the dining area.
“Come on, you two! Breakfast is getting cold!”
Ali and Baba smiled and headed toward the breakfast table together.
