Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 13, 2026
This policy explains what information Versemere collects when you use the site, why we collect it, and what choices you have. We only collect what we need to run a reading and writing platform — there are no ad networks or data brokers involved.
1. Who to contact
Versemere can be reached at privacy@versemere.com for anything related to this policy or your personal data. [Add your company’s legal name and address here.]
2. Account information
To create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password (or, if you sign up with Google, the name and email address Google shares with us — we never see or store your Google password).
You can also choose to add a username, display name in English and/or Urdu, profile photo, short bio, social links, and a public email address, all of which appear on your public profile. None of this is required beyond what’s needed to create an account.
3. Content and activity
We store the novels, chapters, comments, reviews, and ratings you publish, along with activity like likes, bookmarks, follows, and reading progress — this is what lets the platform actually work (showing your library, notifying a writer about a new comment, recommending what to read next, and so on).
4. AI translation
When a chapter is translated between Urdu and English, its text is sent to Google’s Gemini API to generate that translation. No account information is included in that request beyond the chapter text itself.
5. Automatically collected data
Like any website, our servers and hosting provider log basic technical information for every visit — IP address, browser type, device type, and pages visited — mainly to keep the site secure and working correctly. We don’t use this for advertising.
6. Cookies
We use one essential cookie to keep you signed in. We don’t use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
7. Who we share data with
We don’t sell your data or share it with advertisers. Your data is only shared with the service providers that run Versemere behind the scenes:
- Supabase — our database, authentication, and file storage provider (profile photos, cover images).
- Google — for Google Sign-In (if you use it) and the Gemini API (for AI translation).
- Our hosting provider, to actually serve the website to you.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Versemere or our users.
8. How long we keep your data
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we permanently remove your profile, published novels and chapters, and related activity (likes, comments, bookmarks, follows) — this can’t be undone. Some information may be kept longer where we’re legally required to.
9. Your choices
You can view and edit most of your profile information at any time from your account settings, and delete your account entirely from there too. For anything you can’t change yourself — like requesting a copy of your data or asking us to correct something — contact us at privacy@versemere.com.
[If you operate in the EU/UK, US states with privacy laws, or elsewhere with specific data-subject rights (e.g. GDPR, CCPA), add the specific rights that apply to your users here.]
10. Children
Versemere isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect data from anyone under that age. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we’ll remove it.
11. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections and secure storage through our infrastructure providers. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make a significant change, we’ll do our best to let you know. The “Last updated” date at the top always reflects the current version.
